IceStone

All Surface Design is proud to be the Missouri and Central Illinois distributor of the much publicized IceStone, LLC. IceStone manufactures the world’s first and only Cradle to Cradle Certified (CM) high-design durable surface from 100% recycled glass and concrete. The company is a leader in sustainable business, focusing on the triple bottom line of environmental, social and financial returns. Cradle to Cradle Certified (CM) products must meet rigorous standards for human health, environmental health and recyclability.

IceStone recycled content ranges from 70% to 75% of the product by weight. Of the recycled content, generally 80 to 100% is pre-consumer waste, with the balance being post- consumer waste.

About The Company

Green Manufacturing and Office Facilities: IceStone has adopted goals for energy conservation, carbon emissions, water use, and waste management. IceStone will become carbon-neutral, purchase renewable energy credits, and will continue to reduce energy use per square foot of product produced. IceStone’s Water Management Principles are based on the Hannover Principles on Design for Sustainability and the Water Principles of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Waste from our facility is tracked and measured against reduction goals. Over 80% of our waste is recycled, recovered or composted. IceStone also conducts environmental education programs for employees.

Life Cycle: IceStone durable surfaces are defined as a Technical Nutrient by MBDC’s Cradle to Cradle™ certification due to human and ecological health characterization as well as reutilization potential. IceStone durable surfaces are suitable for many re-uses in a long life cycle. Fabricators will accept used IceStone surfaces and may cut a new piece. IceStone LLC accepts surfaces that are packaged and shipped back at the owner’s expense to IceStone LLC in Brooklyn, NY. IceStone surfaces are 100% recyclable via mechanical grinding and reforming. IceStone surfaces may also be down cycled into tiles, landscaping material and roadbed aggregate.

Supply Chain: IceStone encourages suppliers to improve sustainability standards. IceStone’s glass and mother-of-pearl are recycled from post-industrial and post-consumer sources. IceStone advocates for stronger glass recycling programs in New York. IceStone hopes to create an infrastructure that allows the commercial re-use of regional waste glass. Cement is procured regionally and IceStone is an advocate for the greening of the cement industry. IceStone continuously conducts product research to seek the most eco-friendly and local materials as possible.

IceStone tries very hard to make the manufacturing process, product and business operations as green as they can be. For example:

Manufacturing Process is unique to the industry:
• Low-emission manufacturing process
• Factory is day lit
• Grey water recycling system
• Recycle the byproduct of the manufacturing process
• Replaced petroleum-based machine lubricants with soy-based ones
• Where possible, source 100% post-consumer raw materials and supplies
